BrickBlock
Restraint Goal
-
To act as an effective subsurface restraint for paver installations.
-
To provide a metal restraint that can withstand powerful maintenance
edgers directly adjacent to the installation.
- To
allow irrigation head installation and resulting healthy grass
directly adjacent to the paver installation.
*Application
Overview
-
BrickBlock paver restraint is set and anchored into compacted
base using 3/8” x 10” spiral steel spikes.
-
A setting course (3/4” to 1” of fines or sand) is
laid over the compacted base. The setting course acts as a leveling
course filling in the un-level portions of the compacted base.
- Pavers
are laid on setting course with a thin layer of fines spread over
the paver surface.
- The
entire paver installation is vibra-pacted into place.
- Semi-compact
backfill material adjacent to the completed paver installation
providing additional support.
*Intended
as an overview only, please refer to specifier/ manufacturer technical
specifications.
NOTE:
The typical installation is for the horizontal base of the paver
restraint to face away from the paver (CAD drawing BB 1).
In the event the specifier / installer desires to face the base
of the restraint under the paver, refer to (CAD BB 2). Although
an “under paver” installation is perfectly acceptable,
it can be slightly more difficult to achieve. If the compacted base
does not fully support the restraint, the restraint can act as a
“spring board” during the paver compaction process causing
the outside row of pavers to “cup” (be raised) trapping
water on the installation.
